Recently, Hisicor has signed an authorization and licensing agreement with the Italian Chiesi Group for the drug HSK31858 tablets. Hisicor will grant the rights to the Class 1 new drug HSK31858 tablets with independent intellectual property rights to the Chiesi Group in regions outside of the Greater China region (including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan). In this transaction, Hisicor is expected to receive a total payment of up to $462 million, as well as a sales commission in double digits for actual annual net sales. A first payment of $13 million will be received upon the agreement taking effect.

HSK31858 is a orally administered, potent and highly selective dipeptidyl peptidase 1 (DPP1) small molecule inhibitor developed by Hisicor. It is intended for clinical use in treating bronchodilation and lower respiratory diseases caused by acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome. A phase II clinical trial is currently underway. To date, no drugs targeting this target have been approved for market release worldwide.
